Is Ayuvo Health Age my biological age?
Ayuvo Health Age is Ayuvo's own estimate from your data. It is not a clinical or biological age, and it is not WHOOP's or any other company's score. Treat it as a direction to watch.
Recovery, Ayuvo Health Age, a Daily Review, trends and patterns, calculated on your phone from the data you already have, with the method behind every number.
| Score | Label | Suggestion |
|---|---|---|
| 67–100 | Good Recovery | Normal training |
| 34–66 | Moderate | Consider lighter training |
| 0–33 | Low | Recovery-focused day |
Weights: heart rate variability 35%, resting heart rate 25%, sleep 25%, breathing rate 7.5%, blood oxygen 7.5%.
Every score is calculated on your phone from data already on it, with the same shared maths and test vectors on iPhone and Android. AI never computes a number.
Once last night's sleep has synced, Ayuvo compares your overnight heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, breathing rate and blood oxygen with your own baselines and gives a score from 0 to 100, a label and a training suggestion.
What it shows. Recovery is a 0-100 morning score that compares last night's body signals with your own baselines. It is ready once last night's sleep has synced.
Inputs and weights. Heart rate variability counts for 35%, resting heart rate 25%, sleep 25%, breathing rate 7.5% and blood oxygen 7.5%. Sleep is 70% duration compared with your usual and 30% how close your sleep midpoint was to the previous 14 nights. Missing inputs are left out and the remaining weights are scaled up.
How each input is scored. Each input starts at 50 for a typical night and moves 20 points for each spread above or below your usual, in the healthy direction: higher HRV scores higher, a higher resting heart rate scores lower. Breathing rate only lowers the score when it is well outside your usual range, and blood oxygen only when it is well below your usual.
Training load. When yesterday's training load was high compared with your 28-day average, 3 points are taken off, or 6 when it was more than double the average.
Labels. 67 and above is Good Recovery (normal training), 34 to 66 is Moderate (consider lighter training) and below 34 is Low (a recovery-focused day).
When there is not enough data. Recovery needs a sleep baseline and an HRV or resting heart rate baseline, each with at least 14 nights. Nights with less than 2 hours of recorded sleep are treated as incomplete.
Limitations. Illness, alcohol, travel, stress and device fit can all move these signals. Recovery is a wellness estimate from your own data, not a medical diagnosis or advice.
| Signal | Weight |
|---|---|
| Heart rate variability | 35% |
| Resting heart rate | 25% |
| Sleep | 25% |
| Breathing rate | 7.5% |
| Blood oxygen | 7.5% |
What it is. Ayuvo Health Age is Ayuvo's own estimate of how your recent habits and fitness markers compare with published population values. It is not a clinical or biological age, and it is not WHOOP's or any other company's score.
Markers and weights. VO2 max 25%, resting heart rate 15%, heart rate variability 15%, daily steps 15%, sleep 15%, workout consistency 10% and body composition 5%. Each marker uses your average over the last 90 days.
How a marker becomes years. VO2 max and HRV are compared with population averages by age and sex: the age at which the average equals your value, minus your actual age. Resting heart rate, steps, sleep, workouts and body composition use tables that turn each range into a number of years. Each marker is limited to 6 years either way (3 for HRV), and the total to 10.
What is needed. Your birthday in your profile, and at least 3 markers including VO2 max, resting heart rate or HRV. Most markers need 30 days of data in the last 90; VO2 max needs 3 readings and body composition 1.
Pace. Health Age is recalculated for each of the last 12 weeks. Pace is how fast it has been changing per calendar year: below 0.9 is improving, 0.9 to 1.1 is steady and above 1.1 is rising faster than time. Pace needs at least 8 weekly points.
Limitations. Population tables come from specific groups and lab methods, and watch readings are estimates. HRV norms come from resting ECG recordings, so that marker is kept small. Treat the number as a direction to watch, not a verdict.
| Marker | Weight | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| VO2 max | 25% | ±6 years |
| Resting heart rate | 15% | ±6 years |
| Heart rate variability | 15% | ±3 years |
| Daily steps | 15% | ±6 years |
| Sleep | 15% | ±6 years |
| Workout consistency | 10% | ±6 years |
| Body composition | 5% | ±6 years |
Total difference limited to ±10 years. Every table cites its published source in the app.
What it shows. A look back at one day: a Day Score from 0 to 100, what went well, what needs attention, what to try tomorrow and what to consider reducing.
Areas and weights. Nutrition 30%, activity 20%, sleep 20%, hydration 10%, training 10%, recovery 10% and fasting 10%. Only areas you track and have data for count, and the weights are scaled to what is included. An area you did not log shows as not logged and never lowers your score.
How areas are scored. Nutrition: calories within 10% of your target, protein at 90% or more of your target, fiber at your goal and carbs and fat within 20% of target. Hydration and steps: progress toward your goals. Training: a workout, or a rest day after a hard day. Sleep: last night compared with 7 hours. Recovery: this morning's score.
Consider reducing. Nutrients with an upper limit you set, such as sugar, sodium, saturated fat or caffeine, are compared with that limit and your 28-day average. Patterns from your own data can appear here too.
Limitations. The review can only see what was logged or synced. It describes your day; it is not medical advice.
| Area | Weight |
|---|---|
| Nutrition | 30% |
| Hydration | 10% |
| Activity | 20% |
| Training | 10% |
| Sleep | 20% |
| Recovery | 10% |
| Fasting | 10% |
Only areas you track and logged count. An area you did not log never lowers the score.
What a baseline is. Ayuvo compares each reading with your own recent history, not with other people. Your baseline for a metric is the average of the previous 60 days, not counting today.
How much data is needed. A baseline needs at least 14 days with a reading. Until then you will see "Learning your baseline" with a count such as 9/14. Confidence is high when at least 70% of the 60 days have data and there are 30 or more readings, and medium otherwise.
Your normal range. Your normal range is your average plus or minus one standard deviation, the usual spread of your readings. A minimum spread is used for each metric, so a very steady history does not make tiny changes look dramatic.
Today compared with usual. Ayuvo shows the difference from your average, the percentage change and how many spreads away today is. Trends use the slope of the last 28 days, shown as a percentage of your baseline per week.
Overnight readings. HRV, resting heart rate, blood oxygen and breathing rate use readings taken during last night's sleep. When no reading falls inside your sleep window, the daily value is used instead and marked as such.
Limitations. Baselines depend on how often you wear your device and on its sensors. A missing reading is shown as missing, never as zero.
Baseline: the average of the previous 60 days. Normal range: that average plus or minus one standard deviation. Trend: the least-squares slope of the last 28 days, as a percentage of your baseline per week.
What a pattern is. Ayuvo compares days with and without something, such as a late intense workout, and looks at what happened next, such as that night's sleep.
The test. Over the last 120 days, each group needs at least 8 days. Ayuvo compares the two averages with Welch's t test and an effect size (Cohen's d). A pattern is shown only when the difference is both consistent (t of 2 or more) and large enough to matter (d of 0.3 or more).
Pairs checked. Late intense workouts and that night's sleep; high training load and next-day recovery; meeting your water goal and next-day recovery; meeting your protein target and next-day strength volume; a short night and that day's steps.
Limitations. An association in your data, not proof of cause. Other things that happen on the same days can explain a difference.
At least 8 days in each group over 120 days, a Welch t of 2 or more and an effect size of 0.3 or more.
Tap Explain with AI on Recovery, Health Age or the Daily Review and your chosen model rephrases the result. It receives only the derived values, such as scores, labels and review items, never raw readings, dates or names. Every number in its answer is checked against those values, and anything that fails is replaced by the standard text.
Recomputed on demand. Scores are calculated from your synced health data each time you open them, so there is no separate score history to keep in sync.
Morning refresh. Ayuvo asks your phone to refresh Recovery in the morning after sleep syncs. iOS and Android decide when background work actually runs, so it may appear later, or only when you open the app.
Notifications. The optional Recovery and Daily Review notifications only say that something is ready. They never show your values.
Not medical advice. Wellness estimates from your own data, not a medical diagnosis or advice. Ayuvo Health Age is Ayuvo's own estimate from your data. It is not a clinical or biological age, and it is not WHOOP's or any other company's score. Patterns: An association in your data, not proof of cause.
The scores are local. Only one optional step can leave the phone.
Scores, trends and patterns are recalculated on the phone each time you open them. Nothing is stored or uploaded.
Derived values only, to the provider you configured, or to an on-device model that keeps them on the phone.

A baseline needs at least 14 days with a reading, and Recovery needs 14 nights. Until then Ayuvo shows a count such as 9/14 instead of a score.
Apple Health records HRV as SDNN and Health Connect as RMSSD. They are different measures, so Ayuvo keeps each with its own baseline and never compares them.
